  • Profile Preferences - target roles, industries, seniority level, geographic preferences, urgency of search, and similar onboarding information
  • Resume and Career Content - the personal data contained in resumes and other career materials you upload, paste, or build inside the Service, including:
    • Contact details (name, email, phone, location, links to professional profiles)
    • Employment history, roles, dates, achievements, and metrics
    • Education, certifications, projects, skills, and languages
    • Free-form notes, narratives, and clarifying answers you provide
  • Job Posting Data - job descriptions, URLs, company names, and role details that you submit or capture via the browser extension
  • Generated Content - tailored resumes, cover letters, recruiter summaries, LinkedIn suggestions, and interview prep materials produced by the Service
  • Application Tracking Data - which versions you used for which applications, statuses, and notes you record
  • Browsing and Usage Data - IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent, referral source, and feature interactions
  • Communication Records - messages you send us through support, feedback forms, or email
  • Payment Data - for paid plans, our payment processor handles your card details; we receive limited information such as subscription status, billing country, and the last four digits of your payment method

💡 How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Build and maintain your master experience library and tailored documents
  • Analyze job postings and match them against your profile
  • Generate tailored resumes, cover letters, and supporting materials
  • Provide section-by-section explanations of why edits were suggested
  • Personalize recommendations as you add more career history over time
  • Maintain your account, sync data between web app and browser extension, and provide customer support
  • Improve service performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Send service updates and, if you've opted in, marketing communications
  • Detect fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

📄 How We Handle Resume and Career Content (Important)

Because resume tailoring is the core of our Service, we want to be specific about how we treat the personal data you upload.

  • Storage on our servers. When you upload, paste, or build resume content inside the Service, we store that content on our servers, associated with your account. This is necessary to provide the features you signed up for - tailoring, version comparison, master profile building, and re-use across multiple applications.
  • Access. Your stored career content is accessible only to you and to authorized Perfect Resume systems and personnel acting under strict confidentiality obligations (for example, for support requests you initiate).
  • AI processing. To generate tailored documents and explanations, your resume content and the relevant job description are processed by AI models. We use a combination of our own systems and third-party AI providers under contracts that prohibit them from using your content to train their general-purpose models. We do not sell, license, or share your CV data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • Training of our own models. We do not use the personal data in your resumes to train third-party AI models. If we ever wanted to use aggregated or anonymized patterns from customer data to improve our own internal models, we would clearly disclose it and offer a way to opt out.
  • Retention. We keep your career content for as long as your account is active so the Service remains useful. You can delete individual items, master-profile entries, tailored versions, or your entire account at any time from your settings. After deletion, content is removed from active systems and from backups within standard retention cycles.
  • Your authorization. You confirm that any personal data you upload is yours to share, or that you have authorization to share it (for example, contact details of a reference).

📬 Email and Marketing Communication

If you opt in to receive updates, we'll send occasional emails about new features, helpful career content, and offers. You can opt out anytime via the "unsubscribe" link in our emails or by contacting us directly.

We send marketing messages only with your explicit consent or where permitted by applicable law.

🛡️ Data Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, access controls, audit logging, and regular security review. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable and industry-appropriate steps to prevent loss, misuse, or unauthorized access.
